MSP created a sales centre to generate enthusiasm and advance sales for the Times Central development.
Client Longfor Xiamen was so pleased with ‘Skimming Stone’ that although it was originally envisioned as a temporary installation, they retained it as a permanent feature.
Among the city’s many striking natural assets, most memorable is its proximity to a number of bodies of water. Therefore we used water as the design element connecting the sales center and development site.
A stone skimming across a lake creates every-expanding ripples; the concept suggests the philosophy of Longfor`s future development. At the end of the ripples, there is a large shallow water feature which serves as a mirror for the surrounding building and plants. At one end of this water feature sits the floating pavilion, which represents the skimming stone. Accessed by a walkway beneath the lake’s surface, the floating pavilion provides a quiet and comfortable space for meeting customers.
The landsape which MSP created reflects the benefits and design ideology of the Longfor Xiamen development, and visually balances the view of the nearby lake with that of the existing building.
An early Chinese poet described Xiamen as “a city that leans on stones like a flower; where millions of mountains embrace the sea.”
With its location in the Xiamen Xiang An district, north of the Xiamen city center, the ‘Times Central’ Development Area has become the new central hub of Xiamen, where people from different geographies, age groups, and businesses connect.
